Scamander Beach Shack is located along Tasmania's Great Eastern Drive, only a short drive from The Bay of Fires, St Helens and Binalong Bay on Tasmania's east coast. The shack is a self-contained holiday house that is family-friendly and motor-bike friendly. Uninterrupted views of waves and the Scamander River mouth provide breathtaking scenery sitting in the comfort of your accommodation.

The Bay of Fires on Tasmania’s East Coast extends from Binalong Bay in the south to Eddystone Point in the north. A picturesque view of the bay can be found driving along the coast from Binalong Bay to The Gardens. Binalong Bay is a photographer's dream with white fine sand, blue azure water and majestic granite boulders tinted with bright orange lichen.

Nearby St Helens is known as the game-fishing capital of Tasmania and affords stunning views of Georges Bay. Take a scenic drive from St Helens to St Helens Point where you will find the magnificent Peron Dunes and extensive surfing beaches along pristine coastline. A visit to The Pub in the Paddock at Pyengana to give Priscilla the Pig a beer is a 'must do' experience! At Pyengana you can taste award-winning cheeses at The Holy Cow Café and then stretch your legs with a walk to spectacular St Columba Waterfall.

Just a short drive south of Scamander Beach Shack at Ironhouse point is Ironhouse Brewery where you can taste boutique brews and wines or indulge in a sumptuous lunch or dinner. Eureka Fruit and Berry Farm is a foodie 'must do' with fresh seasonal fruits and berries; desserts; lunches; ice-cream; jams, chutneys and sauces. You will find Eureka Fruit and Berry Farm at Upper Scamander Road just south of Scamander.

Bicheno is a 40 minute drive south of Scamander Beach Shack. Bicheno Penguin Tours, Bicheno's Glass Bottom Boat, Bicheno Motorcycle Museum and East Coast Natureworld are great additions to your 'things to do list' when visiting the east coast of Tasmania. Freycinet National Park is 1.5 hours drive south of Scamander Beach Shack. Take the iconic walk to Wineglass Bay Lookout (1.5 hours return) or to the beach at Wineglass Bay (3 hours return). Walk around the lighthouse at Cape Tourville and admire the captivating view of the Freycinet coastline.

Taste Tasmania's east coast cool climate wines! Cellar doors are scattered along the Tasman Highway between Bicheno and Swansea. Walk for miles along the white sandy beaches and take in the pristine blue-green crystal waters! Catch a bream off the old Scamander bridge or try your luck at beach fishing!
